The Sewing Pattern

Almost any button front jumper or vest pattern could be used for this project; you probably won't have to buy a new pattern at all. I used Simplicity 9533 for the jumper that I made for my daughter Tanya. If you use a vest pattern, you'll need to cut the bottom edges straight across. The skirt is made by cutting cotton fabrics of similar weight into uniform, lengthwise strips, cutting the strips into various lenghts, sewing the strips end-to-end, then cutting them all to one length and stitching them side-by-side. This method creates a one-of-a-kind skirt that needs no pattern at all.
