Finishing the Bodice
Once you are satisfied with the embellishment work on the bodice, the bodice
can be finished with basic sewing methods. For all seams, use the seam
allowance given in the pattern that you used.
- Sew the front to the back at shoulder seams with right sides together.
- Sew the lining front to the back at the shoulder seams with right sides
together.
- Place the bodice and the lining right sides together, match all edges and
seams, pin.
- Sew together along the armhole openings and the front edges and neck line.
Do not sew the side seams or the hem line. (as shown)
- Press all seams before turning. Clip seam allowances, turn right sides
out, and press again.
- To sew the side seams; you will place right sides together, matching lining
raw edge to lining raw edge, bodice raw edge to bodice raw edge, and seam to
seam. Now you can sew the side seams of both the lining and the bodice at the
same time. (as shown)
- Press these seams open and then press into shape again.
- Baste the bottom edges of the bodice and lining together.
- Stitch button holes and buttons according to the pattern instructions.
